Rock WILK

Day 35- Sometimes you gotta get out of town and breathe different air....

This is the Mario Cuomo Bridge, although it's the Tappan Zee Bridge to me forever. The gateway to Nyack and Piermont, Rockland County, and then if you keep going, Orange Country, New Paltz, Rt 17, Auntie El's where you can buy fresh pie or flowers or a chiminea, (google it), the Catskills, the Adirondacks, lakes and mountains, Niagara Falls, and onward and upward all the way to Canada if you keep driving. I have always looked at this bridge as the door to the "rest of the world", in either direction. When we lived in the Bronx when I was a kid, it was the way to get to the open and unlimited possibilities that awaited you as you crossed the beautiful Hudson River, as you headed upstate, and if you were coming from the other direction, which I did so many times when my family lived in Spring Valley, in Rockland County, it was the beginning of the magic of New York City. Also it was how we got to my Grandparent's apartment, my favorite place on earth at that time, and so, for me, the Tappan Zee Bridge has always been magical, and it remains that way to this day. I live in the Bronx today, but my dream has always been to one day live in either Piermont, which is a beautiful river town just south of the Bridge, or in Nyack, which is just north of the bridge. I actually lived in Nyack for a few years, but life took me away, to other beautiful experiences, and my dream remains... one day I will live on that side of the bridge again, and that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I may live in a few places between here and Rockland, in the meantime, but until then, I will continue to live my life and I will continue to dream, and the beautiful NEW Mario Cuomo Bridge is a magnificent symbol to me that as things change, our hearts continue to grow as well, but our dreams remain, even as they evolve, it's good to keep dreaming. And it's awesome to live so close to your dreams, like I do, and have the occasional opportunity to actually get in a car and just drive right into those dreams, and breath some different air, and to be reminded... What's better than that? Not much. Thanks for reading all of this, and have a beautiful day yourself, and here's to a better world, for all of us...
